Vale Wanderers v Nurney Villa
KCLR Shield 12/09 11:00
Vale Wanderers 1 - 1 Nurney Villa
Vale Wanderers hosted local rivals Nurney Villa in the final round of KCLR Shield group stage. Glen Halligan put Vale ahead 1-0 early on in first half with a great header. The rest of the first half saw Nurney defenders putting their bodies on the line to frustrate the home side with various number of blocks as Vale looked to add a second goal. The home side lead 1- 0 at the break. The second half only saw a single goal which came from visitors with Pakie Fleming being the man to find the net for Nurney. Vale tried to find a way to grab a goal to secure the win but were unable to do so. Best for Nurney Andy O'Brien, Joe Byrne and John Townsend.

Castle Rangers v New Oak Boys
KCLR Shield 12/09 11:00
Castle Rangers 0 - 7 New Oak Boys

A local derby to wrap up this shield group and New Oak needed to win to make sure of qualification for the quarter final. The game started with both teams trying to play with a quick tempo. The counterattack was the main threat for the home side, and they almost made it count on fifteen minutes when they broke at pace but a last-ditch tackle from David O'Shea spared New Oak from going behind. New oak began to take control of the game from here and made it one nil on twenty minutes when a beautiful, floated cross from Dean Kelly was headed in by James McGrath at the back post. With castle still sitting in waiting for the counter New Oak broke down the left on thirty minutes and another beautiful cross this time from David Doyle was volleyed home again at the back post but this time it was Graham Delaney with the finish. The second started in the same way with New Oak dominating the ball and castle sitting in, the third goal came when a through ball was blocked with a Castle Rangers hand for a penalty. Dean Kelly stepped up and slotted it home nicely.

Five minutes later the Castle Rangers keeper delayed on a ball back to him only for Dean Kelly to slot home for he's second. With new oak playing with confidence now the fifth goal was a ball slipped down the right side of the box for Lee Gordon to then roll it across the six yard and David Doyle finish. With the game effectively over now and New Oak starting to enjoy playing and the pick of the goals came on 75 minutes with a passing move that started with Sean Geoghan in goal and worked down the right side of the field where Lee walker slipped Dean Kelly through, and he finished nicely. The seventh was similar with Dean Kelly, David Doyle , Lee Gordon and Graham Delaney linking up and again finished by Dean Kelly . This was a good workout for both teams and Castle Rangers played some good football especially in the first half when they were causing problems on the break.

Ballymurphy Celtic v Baltinglass Town
KCLR Shield 12/09 11:00
Ballymurphy Celtic 2 - 2 Baltinglass Town
We both teams out of contention for quarter final places there was little at stake in Ballymurphy on Sunday morning. In a tight opening there were few chances but that changed on 20 minutes when a quick throw caught Celtic napping and Chris Sutton raced in behind before squaring for Declan Faulkner to put Baltinglass 1-0 up. Ballymurphy reacted well but it took a mistake from the visitors to get them back level 10 minutes before the break. Tom O'Neill intercepted a poor kick out and laid the ball off to Josh O'Toole who fired home from the edge of the penalty area. Celtic missed a glorious chance to go ahead before the break, but Jamie Doyle couldn't convert from 6 yards. Baltinglass made the early running after half time and were rewarded on the hour when Faulkner was released down the left and his shot from out wide deceived the 'keeper to put the visitors in front for a second time. But back came Celtic again Ger O'Brien had them level with 15 minutes to go, racing in behind the Baltinglass back line before calmly picking his spot to make it 2-2. Both sides had chances to win it in the closing stages, but neither could take them as the tie ended level. Best for Celtic were Josh O'Toole, Cathal Kavanagh and Ger O'Brien. 'Towns best included Jordan West, Declan Faulkner and Fergal Donegan

Killeshin FC v Burrin Celtic
KCLR Shield 12/09 11:00
Killeshin FC 2 - 1 Burrin Celtic
Killeshin made it 4 wins on the bounce to top the group, but they had to do it the hard way against a well organised Burrin outfit. As expected, the Premier Division outfit had the lions share of possession, but Burrin limited them to shots from distance, both Michael O'Rourke and Patrick Brannigan firing over from long range for the hosts. Having battled their way through the half Burrin shocked Killeshin by taking the lead on the stroke of half time. An indirect free kick rolled into the path of Sean Tracey and he rifled an unstoppable shot to the net to put Celtic ahead. The second half saw more pressure from Killeshin, but they survived another scare when Donnacha Murphy's effort was cleared off the line on the hour. 5 minutes later Killeshin got their equaliser. Michael O'Rourke knocking in the rebound after Brian Lawlor's effort came back off the post. With the Division 2 starting to tire Killeshin pushed all out for the winner and it arrived 7 minutes from time, Michael O'Rourke on the mark again, this time curling a free kick around the wall and into the net to break Burrin hearts. Best for Killeshin were Julian Strain, Sean Fitzpatrick, Michael O'Rourke and Dylan Regan while Celtic had really impressive showings from Sean Tracey, Eamon Lalor and Donnacha Murphy.

St. Joseph's FC v Hanover Harps
KCLR Shield 08/09 18:30
St. Joseph's FC 0 - 0 Hanover Harps

St Josephs welcomed Premier opposition to McArdle Cross for a midweek evening kick off, to accommodate Hanover Harps outing in the FAI Junior Cup. A very well organised, disciplined and hardworking St. Josephs side who defended excellently when needed and caused danger when going forward came away with a very well-deserved point to conclude their KCLR Shield campaign. A large crowd generated a fantastic atmosphere while a great game of top-quality football unfolded. Both Dean Davis and Kieran Carey causing problems for the Hanover defence but couldn't find the net. Padraig Webb came closest in the first half with a free kick from outside the box. Hanover were a threat from long throw ins and corners, but St. Joseph's defended excellently. Both Jamie Stafford and Robert Timmons attacking and defending the flanks excellently all game, while Evan McGuire controlled the midfield with tackles, passes and clever play. Fredo Eyong came closest for St Joseph's on the 80th minute as he counter attacked and found himself one on one with the Hanover keeper outside the box, a lobbed shot over the keeper went agonisingly wide. That was the chance of the game.

A well-deserved clean sheet for Ross Mannion in goal as he made two big saves in the second half to deny Hanover. A man of the match performance from the young, passionate, and very talented Jack Lawlor in the heart of the Joeys defence as he marshalled and organised the back line all game. Overall, a great performance from St. Joseph's, as they now prepare for their upcoming league campaign.

Bagenalstown AFC v Dolmen Celtic
KCLR Shield 12/09 11:00
Bagenalstown AFC 4 - 5 Dolmen Celtic
Hanover and Mill Celtic had already qualified from Group B but that didn't stop these two teams from serving up a 9-goal thriller. Premier Division side Celtic got off to a flyer, hitting the front after 5 minutes. Bagenalstown battled back and earned a penalty when Craig Fogarty was fouled in the area midway through the half, Trevor Nolan converting for 1-1. With just a couple of minutes to the break Bagenalstown went ahead, Nathan Holden setting up Cormac Lomax who picked his spot to put the hosts 2-1 up at half time. 2 goals within 10 minutes of the restart had Dolmen back in front but with the chances coming at both ends more goals would follow. Another spot kick on the hour for Bagenalstown had them level again, Paddy O'Brien fouled in the area and Trevor Nolan converting again for 3-3. Dolmen regained the lead shortly afterwards but again Bagenalstown hit back, Matty Curran finding the net to tie the game 4-4 with 10 minutes left. As the game swung from end to end it was Celtic that plundered a late winner to claim the points. Best for Bagenalstown were Paddy O'Brien, Trevor Nolan and Cormac Lomax.
